Getting Inspiration.
So today i wanted to talk about something some people struggle with...Inspiration. Yes, that feeling of being inspired.
Now my business is called Inspire so it's really important that i try to inspire others but what got me to that place first off?
Well many things inspire me. And i think when your being more aware of your surroundings you start noticing things and taking more photos of random objects or landscapes.
So, I've got an exercise for you (Literally...) Go take a walk! Go On! Take your phone or a camera with you and just walk. What do you notice?
A beautiful sky? Moody clouds? Busy streets? A strange looking tree? A certain expression on someones face?
Now don't obstruct anyone's privacy here but as far possible take photos of everything you notice.
When you get home pick out 1-5 photos you think you can work with. Then start sketching. I will insert some photos of inspiration and sketches so you can see what i'm talking about. The most important thing is running with an idea. If the photos have maybe made you think 'Oh i would love to have a go at painting a tree' Then do it! You have the photos to help you out.
Soon you'll notice that your carrying your camera around with you and stopping randomly in the street to take a photo.
In order to be inspired you have to open up your eyes and mind.

Materials!
Now this only really applies if you're interested in doing some art yourself or you know someone that's into art and you want to buy them something!
I was pretty privileged that my grandparents bought me some of my first art supplies when i was about 7 or 8. That included an easel that i still use today. Then in school we quite often would have used the schools supplies. I feel very fortunate that i got some basic materials at a young age.
But, you ask, where can I get my hands on some materials????
Well there's 2 answers.
If your literally just starting out, have no idea whether you can paint, and don't know whether you want to paint with watercolours, acrylics or oils? Or just generally want to have a go, then i say stick with the cheap stuff! I still have some emergency canvas's from the pound shop for when i get a wacky idea and i really don't think it's going to work but need to paint it to get it out of my head!
So yup, the pound shop is great! Keep your eyes peeled for cheap canvas's in particular. Also Ebay! Now beware, some people try to make a bucket out of selling art supplies! So go with the lesser known brands and cheap and cheerful if your literally just wanting to mess about with Art.
Now for my second answer, If you know you've got talent, know you want to paint with a certain medium and just want to get going then head to DUNELM MILL!!!
Seriously this place has been so good to me over the last 6 months. Now lets face it, Art supplies ARE expensive. But if you can save money then you might as well! Dunelm Mill provide Daler Rowney Paints, paint brushes and Canvas's and although it is on the dear side you will soon learn they are the cheapest, good quality products. So it all depends on what you want but that's my recommendations.
Do you have any secret suppliers? Do share!!!
As Always check out those snazzy links!

Becoming an Artist...
Let's just say i didn't sit down one day and think hmmm... I'm going to be an artist. Like most things in life it evolved from small beginnings and it certainly wasn't in my plans.
It makes me laugh when i think of the many numerous hours i spent in Careers lessons planning out my life, 6 months after leaving school and my life is already way different than expected!
So who is this woman you ask?

I am Bethany or Beth, whatever suits. And I've gone out on my own to pursue becoming an artist. Art is... well to me it's numerous things. A passion? A means to channel my creativity? Yes and yes. Also there's a sense of relaxation and achievement i get from completing art.
I LOVE that art can be anything you make it. My art reflects a lack of boundaries and rules, but i have way more fun and i never quite know how my painting is going to turn out.
So i will be blogging and You-tubing about various painting techniques, and maybe do some concentrated blogs on one painting. Also blogs on how my life is going generally.
I will leave you with some snazzy links to places where you can view my art and get in contact with me.
Thanks.
